Trojaner, malware or virus via USB charger

Hi community,

What do You think, Is there any known risk of getting infected by a virus or trojan via an original apple usb-charging adapter? Even in theorie?

I heard rumors some time ago that systems got infected by manipulated usb-cable or -gadgets, and so it should have been possible for trojans to get nested on the usb controller part of a charging adapter...
