No sound when receive text from only one contact.

My iPhone6 does not play a sound for only one of my contacts when a text is received. All others have sound when text is received. Any ideas why this happens?

HI there, dennisfromnew milford!

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. After reviewing your post, I see that when you receive a text message from one person in particular, you do not get any notification sounds. I use Messages daily to keep in touch with friends and family, so I know how important it is to make sure you get all your notifications, and would be happy to help!

It's possible you have muted your conversation with that person. The "Mute conversations" section of the following article will give you additional details on where to check for that, and how to turn it on and off.
Use Messages with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
The information is as follows:

Mute conversations

To stop receiving message notifications, you can mute conversations. In Messages, go to the conversation you want to mute notifications for. Then tap Details and turn on Do Not Disturb. When Do Not Disturb is on,User uploaded filewill appear next to the conversation. This stops notifications only for that message conversation, not your device. You’ll still receive all other messages and see notifications for them on your Lock screen.

You can also mute all your conversations by turning on Do Not Disturb in Settings. Go to Settings > Do Not Disturb and tap Manual or Scheduled. This will stop all notifications on your device.

Happy texting!
