HP printers drivers 5.0 issue with Officejet 4500 G510n-z

Same here :-( I had to buy a USB A to USB B cable to connect the printer/scanner directly to the Macbook, at least this way it works ... still searching for a way to bring back my scanning via WLAN ...

I found a work around :

1. delete updated printer driver (Finder -> go to : /Library/Printers/ ... delete everything)

2. Disable automatic updates in system preferences - app store

3. install former version of printer driver HP Printer Drivers v3.1 for OS X

4. add printer again in system preferences - printer & scanner

5. voila -> enjoy

only disadvantage is, that you have to manually click updates in app store for every update afterwards ...

It isn't up to Apple to fix it, but HP. Apple receives the updates from HP.

I did send a message to HP via their sales department alerting them to this thread and this problem. Will that do any good? Who knows?

actually it works even after updating to macOS Sierra, so lets try to find out, what keeps you from scanning ;-)

Did you try it via USB cable ? is it working that way ?

thanks for taking care of this (very boring) issue. Yes I did try with the USB cable but no way the issue is still there. The version of my MAC is 10.11.6 (no further updates available).

If I understand you right, you can not scan even if you connect the printer with the USB cable. This seems to be a different issue then. There is a function on the printer to copy a page without using the computer, it actually scans the page and prints it ... can you try this to make sure the scanning part (from a mechanical point of view) of the printer is still working ?

Yes the copy function works, I am also able to print without any issue. It is only the scanner which does not work

So lets check wether the right driver version is active at the moment, please click in "Printers", "Officejet 4500 G510n-z" "Settings" and in the "General" Tab the driver version should state : 3.3.2 ?

Yes the version driver is 3.3.2

Ok, so there is only one thing I can think of, lets try to reset your complete printer system, its mentioned on this page in Step 7, and then reinstall the printer driver from the apple.com page and add the printer again ...
