Q: HP printers drivers 5.0 issue with Officejet 4500 G510n-z

Hello,

upgraded to HP printers drivers 5.0 as of August 30. 2016

 

Since then attempt to use the scanner results in "waiting for scanner" for ages or -9923 error. (This Officejet 4500 is a wifi printer)

I typically use Preview and import from scanner in the File menu, where the printer is visible.

 

Deleting and reinstalling the HP printer did not solve the issue.

 

Anyone noticed similar behavior ?

That was the part I was missing : finding the previous HP drivers.

    Same here :-( I had to buy a USB A to USB B cable to connect the printer/scanner directly to the Macbook, at least this way it works ... still searching for a way to bring back my scanning via WLAN ...

    I found a work around :

     

    1. delete updated printer driver (Finder -> go to : /Library/Printers/ ... delete everything)

    2. Disable automatic updates in system preferences - app store

    3. install former version of printer driver HP Printer Drivers v3.1 for OS X

    4. add printer again in system preferences - printer & scanner

    5. voila -> enjoy

     

    only disadvantage is, that you have to manually click updates in app store for every update afterwards ...
