Migration accessed my files from Time Machine but iphoto and it's library didn't transfer

I used Migration to setup my new 2011 macbook pro. It looks like everything transferred except iphoto and it's library. I use iphoto all the time. I need this program. I want to use my new 2011 macbook as my only computer. What happened? How do i get my iphoto back on the new computer?

MacBook Pro (13-inch Late 2011), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

Hmm.. yes it looks like there is an option to see iphoto events in Photos.

I know how to use iphoto's editing system. I really want it back the way it was. Photos seems to link my pictures from the iphone...which is neat but it doesn't look like it edits the same. It's so foreign to me and I really don't have time to learn an entirely new program.

How do I get my original iphoto program back to use it as I always have in the past on my new 2011 computer?

The Library should be a very large "magic" folder:

~/Pictures/iPhoto Library

unless you moved it or renamed it. (if you open it, it launches a Photo editor instead of showing you the contents). Just GetInfo on it to see its size.

To get iPhoto.app off the backup, Use the Time Machine Application with its "star wars" display to navigate to the folder:

/Applications

and look back in Time until iPhoto.app appears, then select iphoto.app and choose (Restore).

You're right. If I open it, it does launch Photo editor. It does have 2 different folders named "iphoto Library". One has the "photos" icon and the other with the "iphoto" icon. When i click on the iphoto icon it says "Cannot open migrated library. The content of the iphoto library has already been migrated to Photos...... use a compatible version of iphoto to open this iphoto library.

So...I tried to do what you said. I went into Time Machine to navigate to the folder...and it says, "Can't connect to a current Time Machine backup disk." I checked the internet connection to the Airport Time Capsule. The "data" icon is on the desktop so it's active. I checked the condition of the Airport time capsule in Time Machine preferences and there's no exclamation mark or anything so I don't understand why it's not working.

On the original computer, when i open Macintosh HD, I see under DEVICES "Time Machine Backups", under SHARED "Airport Time Capsule" and then it shows the new mac computer.

On the new mac computer the Macintosh HD shows only SHARED items. The time capsule and the original computer.

I don't know if that's the problem or not...but like I said...the icon for the Data Icon for the Airport Time Capsule is on my desktop on the new computer so it is connected.

Any ideas?

When I go to applications on the new computer the iphoto icon has a "do not enter" sign over it. When I double click it, it says In order to open iphoto it says that I need to update it because it is not compatible with OS X Yosemite. Which is weird because the operating system I have on the old computer is OS X Version 10.9.5 and I thought that when i did the migration the operating system I have been using would have crossed over to the new 2011 computer.

So...I went to download the newer version of iphoto like the computer says I need to do to open iphoto from the applications folder on the new 2011 computer and now it's saying that the item is not available in Canadian stores.

Now what?

Alright...I still have an issue that wasn't resolved in this discussion. The main problem with iphoto has been solved but it is still a problem that my new 2011 mac cannot access the backups on Time Machine. If you read above you will see that the Data disk shows on the new mac's desktop and I still cannot access Time Machine from my new Mac as it says "Can't open to a current time machine backup disk. I just did a backup from the time machine last night to transfer my settings and programs to the new mac. Why isnt it working now?
