Q: Events and Projects won't update

I am doing a clean out of old drives and went to update some old Events and Projects.

There are two sets of Final Cut Event and Project folders on a particular drive that I would like to update.

When I asked FCPX to look at a particular drive the Events and Projects I folders I wanted to update were grayed out and I was asked to 'Choose a SAN location or folder containing . . . . ."

Since the desired folders were grayed out I was unable to do this.

I also asked FCPX to scan all my drives for folders to update. When I did this FCPX just became unresponsive.

What is going on here?

FCPX and OSX are both up to date and on the current versions.

Technically you don't update projects and events. You update volumes. The projects and events have to be in the correct folders to be recognized by the application. They're not in your case. The projects need to go into a folder at the root level of the drive called Final Cut Projects. The events need to go into a folder called Final Cut Events in the same location. That's the only place FCP will see them when it goes to update the volume.
