Network fail with Airport Extreme and Router

Have I got a lemon in my new Airport Extreme, or do I need some advanced setting? My laptops struggle with wi-fi connection to my desktop Mac. The setup described below worked fine with my old Airport Extreme for more than 6 years but not with my new Airport Extreme installed today.

The setup: Cable modem output goes to the WAN input of my Belkin N300 Router that runs on 192.168.1.1. Its router LAN ports: One goes to my Mac Pro (OSX 10.8.5) set for 192.168.1.20, the other an ethernet cable through the wall to another room where it plugs into the Airport Extreme WAN. (This places the Airport signal close to the laptop users.)

My old Airport Extreme Base Station, 2004-vintage M8799LL/A (one of those little round things that looked like a UFO) worked splendidly in this setup for years, serving up to household laptops both the Internet and the Mac Pro files called from 192.168.1.20.

Enter my new AirPort Extreme Base Station (ME918LL/A), one of these small vertical towers. Laptops joining the new Airport Extreme wi-fi get fast Internet connections smoothly. However, connecting to the Mac Pro with a "Connect To Server" at afp://192.168.1.20" takes 10 minutes to find the share and the connection is unstable (will drop the connection, reporting "server connections interrupted" about every 10 minutes). Subbing the old UFO Extreme back in to the same hookup, everything works great again.

VIN,Mac Pro (Early 2009), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

I HAVE PROBLEMS TOO MAYBE ITS OUR INTERNET PROVIDERS..........MINES TWC

I doubt the issue is TWC .. but you do need IPv6 configured correctly if your area has been upgraded and you have a pure modem not a modem router.

I need to see how you have configured the new airport extreme.

Please post a few screenshots from the airport utility.

I need to see the summary page and some of the configuration like Internet, wireless and network tabs.

Here is mine. I have a very similar setup.

Your problem has to do with the fact one computer is plugged into the Belkin and the other is plugged into the Airport.

Apple have stated this is a problem.. if both were plugged into the airport I think the problem would go away.. so if possible that is easy fix. (Apple DNS is wretched!!)

As long as your airport is in bridge, (which it should be).. try moving the link from WAN port of the Airport that goes to LAN belkin to a LAN port on AE. The WAN port of the Airport AC wireless models is problematic with some routers.

Tell us how you go.. no luck post the screenshots.
