Q: My camera imports are showing up on all iOS devices.

I have a single library in my Photos for Mac (MacBook Air) and I have it set to automatically upload photos to iCloud and to my iOS devices (Photo Stream flag is on). That is fine when most of my photos are taken using my phone. However, I recently uploaded ~1000 photos from my dslr camera and they are taking up lots of space on my Mac and have now also shown up on my phone! What I want to do is to upload my dslr camera photos to the Photos app to work on a project, store them on iCloud, but not have them show up on my phone. How should I do that? Is it best to create a different library in Photos and not have it sync to my iOS devices? I didn't have this issue with iPhoto because only my iPhone photos were uploading to Photo Stream (rather than 2-way streaming). Also to resolve the space issue i had stored my iPhoto library on an external device. I'm just trying to figure out the best way to manage this problem in Photos for Mac.

MacBook Air (13-inch Late 2010), OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)

You can only have one library enabled for iCloud on your Mac If you enable My Phto Stream for this library to download from your iiPhone, it will be two-ways and also upload to the iPhone.

If you only want to  download from tthe iPhone, don't use y Photo Stream, but download by connecting the iPhone to a USB port.

Thanks léonie. so how do I delete the photos that have imported to my iPhone (through photo stream) without deleting them from iCloud and my Mac? And should photo stream be then deselected on both devices, the iPhone and the Mac? Thanks again for your reply.

If you want the photos to stay in iCloud and transfer by iCloud to your Mac, you simply cannot delete them from My Photo Stream on the iPhone. All iCloud photos will be mirrored on the devices that are syncing with iCloud, whether you are using My Photo Stream or iCloud Photo Library.

Don't use My Photo Stream to transfer the photos between the iPhone and the Mac, if you do not want the Mac Photos to upload to the iPhone, but download from the iPhone by USB.  Or import the photos from your camera to a different Photos Library on your Mac, that is not syncing with My Photo stream.
