AirDrop not working

All my AirDrop settings are correct but the Airdrop between my iPhone and MacBook is still not working/linking. The AirDrop is visible in the iPhone Control Centre and the MacBook finder. Does anyone know what the problem could be? I'm running El Capitan version 10.11.5 (15F34) on my MacBook and ios 9.3.5 on my iPhone 6s Plus.
