Q: Picture frame mode

I Have been using an older (1st gen) iPad as an electronic picture frame.  All I have to do to activate it is tap the icon on the lower right corner of the lock screen and it starts and keeps going until I stop it.  Was going to do the same with a newer gen iPad (I think it is 3rd gen running the latest OS) and it isn't working.  Is there a setting I am missing that I need to activate?

Picture Frame mode dissapeared either when iOS 6 was introduced or when iOS 7 was introduced.

If your iPad 3 is running on a version of iOS newer than iOS 5.1.1, then this functionality is gone.

There are now digital picture frame apps that you can download and install for free or purchase that you have to actually run as an app to have your iPad act as a digital picture frame, now.

The drawback to having to use an app, now, is that these picture frame apps, usually, will no longer just run in the background when your iPad sleeps or run from the lock screen any longer.
