Hi guys,
I need a Mini DisplayPort Extension Cable for my 2009 Mac Pro and 24" Cinema Display so I can move my tower further away from the monitor.
Can someone please recommend a good cable from the UK as Apple don't make their own extension cable.

In that that cable will extend the length then the answer is yes it will do what you want.

Before I go ahead and order this item - it says that it's female to male rather than male to female. Is this correct for a 24" Cinema display to 2009 Mac Pro? Or does it have to be Male to Female?

Male to Female and Female to Male are exactly the same thing. One end is male and one end is female. You simply swap it around.
The male goes in to the back of the Mac, the female receives the male plug from the end of the cable built-in to the screen.
