Q: Duplicating Projects in Final Cut

Hello,

I have an Issue with duplicating Projects in Final Cut.

I know how to Duplicate Projects, but there actually should be a window opening where I can change

the destination of the duplicated File. This window is missing entirely and Final Cut just duplicates it right into the same folder, without asking where I want to have it saved.

Is there any solution for this problem or is there a way to choose where I want to have the file duplicated to?

Thank You!

TThere is no window when you duplicate projects. I think you may be seeing obsolete information.

The duplicate goes into the same event as the original.

After you duplicate the project, move the duplicate wherever you want it to be.

Everything in an Event is simply one type or another of a Timeline Container, which is simply Metadata.  Right-click anything, it can open inside its own Timeline.  A "Project" is not a "file", but metadata, a container type inside of a specific Event.

When you duplicate a Project, you are not creating a "file".  You are simply creating new metadata inside the Library's / Event's database.  There are no "folders" with FCPX, so please don't use that term.  Projects live inside of an Event.

When you duplicate one, it is duplicated inside that same Event, which is logical workflow.  If you want it in a different Event, within the same Library or a different Library, just drag it to that other Event.  Very simple.

Again, no "folders', no "files", just metadata.  A "Project" is a specific type of Timeline, not a self contained "file".

The user manual has a good description of how media management works in FCPX.  It is NOT anything like other NLEs.
