Why can't my IPad play to both bose bluetooth speaker and Apple TV

My IPad is ISO 9.3.5, I just bought the Bose bluetooth speaker and it works great. My Apple TV will play my music from IPad, works great. I want to play on both devices, Apple TV in living room Bose speaker outside. Apple store said it can't and I don't understand why.
