Q: Fonts

I guess I ruined my Symbol font. How can I re-install the symbol font?

After googling it there are so many possible offers of symbol and I got one, which screwed the originally installed one.

Any help would be great

OS X installs the System fonts, and if you whacked one of these, you can only get it back in the following approach.

    1. Move the current “damaged” Symbol font to your Desktop
    2. Apply the OS X combo update for your specific installed version of OS X
      1. I will post back a link to the proper combo updater, if you share the specific version of OS X that is currently installed.
      2. This will reinstall the System fonts, including the correct Symbol font.

    Viking,

nice. I am using a MacOS X Sierra in the beta version. Screen Shot 2016-09-06 at 18.15.49.png

and yes, I really would like to get the Symbol fonts back to working.

    thanks

PS. I am reacting only at night, because my Mac is at home. During the day at office I am forced to work with the windows machines. So far it is working but I - much - prefer the mac.

Nobody knows what will happen with beta software. You probably should ask this question on the forums you were directed to use when having problems with the beta software.

However, Font Book has a command to Restore Standard Fonts in the File menu. I couldn't tell you if the command still exists in the beta, but it may fix the problem if it is there.
