Need help for Infected OS X 10.6.8

It seems my MacBook Air OS X 10.6.8 was infected via 'MyWay' doc to pdf, and/or kuklorest. I found info that MyWay

is a hijacker. I have not yet searched kuklorest. I deleted both however. Does anyone have any information on these apps? I did not download them, they just appeared. Are they indeed malware? Am I being misguided by our IT person at work? Are there other malware I need to look for? Do I need to "clean" my Mac? Is it safe to use on a shared network? I read about Malwarebytes, is that a good solution?

Thank you for any info/insights you might have.

You are welcome. The program won't run using OS 10.6, so you would have to upgrade first. Also, check your Safari extensions to see if there is one you don't recognize.

Check to make sure your applications are compatible. PowerPC applications are no longer supported after 10.6.

Also check to make sure there is a compatible driver for your printer.

Do a backup before installing, preferable 2 backups on 2 different drives.
