Q: Macbook pro 2 logon screen starts with no cursor arrow and must be restarted
2014 Macbook Pro 2 13" Retina logon screen starts with no cursor arrow and must be restarted once in every five tries. On restart, message appears asking if it should open programs that had started to load or cancel. This is a recent problem that didn't occur two months ago. Once restarted, everything appears to be OK. What's up?
MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

Try Safe Boot mode by holding down the Shift key at startup. Safe Boot is quite slow because the OS performs some cleanup and verification tasks, so give it time. After you're completely logged in, restart normally.
