Q: HDD drive removed in Finder and now not showing

My macbook pro has two hard drives, HDD 500gb and SSD 120gb. The HDD is a Data drive and has been accidentally removed from Finder. I cannot locate this drive anywhere within the computer.  This is a new drive and has only recently been added to the mac.  Desperately need to find it.

Mac Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)

Try using Disk Utility to fix the problem. Also, read Writing an effective Apple Support Communities question.

Thanks Kappy for your help - when I went to Disk Utility it is only showing the SSD and not the HDD drive.
Its as if the HDD drive is not there at all.  Both drives have only been installed within the last 2 months.
I'm pretty sure I have accidentally clicked on the icon to the right of the drive to remove it from Finder.  Was not thinking straight at the time..... If this is the case the drive should still show up in the Disk Utility ?  Could this drive have failed ?

I have added two screenshots showing the disk utility and finder setup. Hope this helps.Screen Shot 2016-09-07 at 1.06.03 PM.pngScreen Shot 2016-09-07 at 1.07.27 PM.png

I don't know what you are displaying, but it isn't from Disk Utility. However, if as you say the hard drive does not appear in Disk Utility, then it has failed. Not sure what OS X version your have, but here's what you would normally see in Disk Utility:

    Disk Utility in El Capitan.png

If you see your hard drive as in the above with an indented entry below it, then the indented entry would appear ghosted if it is not mounted and would appear slightly out-dented. To mount it simply select it in the sidebar then click on the Mount button in the toolbar if it is activated. The above is from El Capitan. Yosemite and earlier have an older version of Disk Utility, but it is mostly the same.

    Open system Profiler/System Information

OS X: About System Information and System Profiler - Apple Support

and see what is listed under SATA/SATA Express

If the HD is not listed that means that it either failed or you have a connection problem.

If the HD is listed, provide a screenshot of what it listed.

I have also attached the correct screenshot of the Disc Utility.

Going by what you have said and also what 'Illaass' has said it looks like the disc has failed or lost connection.

Looks like I will be taking it back to the computer shop tomorrow.....

Thank you for your help - it was much appreciated.
    cheers Leonie

Hi Illaass thank you for replying to my problem.

I followed what you said and looks like a disc failure or connection problem. (see attached)
