OS X El Captain 10.11.6
Recently, I downloaded OS X El Captain 10.11.6 on my computer and now my Mail, Photos, nor FaceTime will open. PLEASE HELP ASAP

Where did you download 10.11.6 from?

I downloaded the update from the App store and when I tried to redownload the update from Apple it said that the Macintosh storage was not compatible. Where should I reboot it from?
Can you not switch you Mac off then back on?
I've tried that and that didn't work either. When I try and open the applications it says that the applications are not compatible with the system update. Is there a way I can update the apps other than trying to redownload the update? Idk anything to fix the problem at this point.
I am afraid you cannot update the apps alone since it's bundled with the OS.
Someone here with more experience might jump in and help.
Do a backup, preferable 2 separate ones on 2 drives. Boot to the Recovery Volume (command - R on a restart or hold down the option/alt key during a restart and select Recovery Volume). Run Disk Utility and select First Aid. Then re-install the OS.
