Q: exporting HDD to DCP?

Hi,

I have a short film on 1920 x 1080. Now they ask is to deliver it to dcp. I don't have a clue how to do it and if it makes sense at all.

What do you think?? Does it make sense. How can I do it?

thanks

Paul

I think you also posted this on FCP.co.  Answer is, yes, there are applications and a plugin somewhere that will do this.  They aren't cheap.  And if this is your first film, DCP can be tricky to get encoded properly.  Like all other codecs, it has several variables that effect the final product.  You'd have to get the specs from your theater to do it correctly.  If you had an encoding service do it, you'd still be spending big bucks.  I'd not run out and do this for my first film.  I'd stick with bringing in a DVD.  Learn more about DCP, the costs, the hurdles, before using it.
