Q: iPad Available Storage Inconsistent

Hello, everyone. I just checked the available storage space on my iPad and apparently I have 6.5 GB free although yesterday there was 6.9 GB free. I have not downloaded or installed anything. Then I check the available storage using iTunes and it says I have 8.32 GB available even though it still says 6.5 GB on the iPad. Does anyone know why those things happen and why the available storage is so inconsistent? Thanks.

By the way I had recently updated to iOS 9.3.5 and had recently restored from an iCloud backup to fix an issue involving the mail app.

The inconsistency of free space has been plaguing iDevices/iTunes for as long as I can remember.

This appears to have gotten better in the public betas of iOS 10.

In addition to that, because of caches, temporary files, etc., the amount of free space on your device may fluctuate slightly. From 6.9 to 6.5 is a reasonable fluctuation, but if you start noticing more drastic changes in free space, there may be a software bug that's consuming some of your free space.
