Q: Keeping Mini connected to Wifi after log off

Hello,

We have 3 Mac Minis that are in a remote location.  I've set up screen sharing on all these units and I have disabled sleep mode so that they can be controlled remotely.  However, if the user is not actively logged on, the wifi connection goes off so I cannot remote to the mini without having to physically touching that machine to log on.  I have not problems connecting while the machine has an active user.  Is there a way to keep the wifi active even if the user logs off?

Are all three Minis located in the same space?

Aere all three the same model?

Have you verified that the problem Mac is not sleeping? A slowly flashing Power light means it is sleeping?

From your description, I do not completely understand how the 3 Mac Mini's are setup and being used.

If the Mini's are being used as individual work stations and running the standard OS X:

    1. set computer sleep to "Never"

    2. uncheck "Put hard Disk to sleep when possible"

    3. uncheck "Enable Power Nap"

If the Mac Mini's are going to be used like Servers and accessed by office computers:

The three Minis are in the same location.  The fourth one which will be used to control the other three is located in another area.  The 3 Minis are attached to three TVs and are being used to run Media Sign Pro with information for our students.  The fourth one will be used to connect to each of the Minis using ScreenShare  and make any updates in MSP.

I read somewhere about setting the airport prefs to DisconnectOnLogout=NO.    I'm going to try this and will let you know how it goes.

Unfortunately, the DisconnectOnLogout=No doesn't seem to make a difference when the user is logged off.  I even rebooted the computer. I still cannot remote to the machine to log in if the no one is logged into the computer.  The wifi icon on the login screen is grayed out.

den.thed - I had updated all the settings which did not change anything.
