Q: Deleted 50GB of iPhone back ups but still no storage

I'm hoping someone can help me. My mac book pro shortage was full, couldn't even do an iPhone back up. I'm in need of a serious clean out but that's another story.

I followed steps online a month or so ago to delete my old iPhone back ups. Turns out it was taking 50GB of space. But I still can't back up my phone as its saying its full. Is there somewhere I need to go to permanently delete them? I've emptied trash. Just seems to have made no change to my storage situation...

Use an App like this to find out what is using storage so youcan delete it

For info not that iPhoto has its own Trash and Photos retains for 30 days photos you delete unless you overtly delete the recently deleted photos

Restart your computer and reset the PRAM by holding Option + Command + P + R the next time you boot the machine. You're machine will chime, then restart and chime again. After the second chime, release the keys and let the machine boot.

I use a program called Disk Inventory X to view storage. It will also allow you to view the files in Finder.
