Q: Possible to delay Login items?

Setting up Adobe software to open at login has created more problems than it's worth. I use Photoshop, Bridge, Premiere, and Audition everyday as part of the same project, all interlinked. I thought I'd set them up to open at login, to save time.

However, the Cache location for all this software, and also the folder for my Google Drive backup, is on an external drive, and if it is not present when the software tries to open, things go haywire.

Is it possible to delay the opening of login items, by, say, 10 seconds?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

No, it's on or off only, there may be a 3rd party app that can do it, but you'll need to check the app store.

Choose Utilities from the Finder’s Go menu, open the AppleScript Editor, and put in code such as:

    delay 10

tell application “Adobe Photoshop” to run

Save it as an application, set it to open on login, and remove those applications from the list.

    Thanks for the replies.

I tried Applescript and finally got it working with this:

    delay 15

tell application "Adobe Photoshop CS6" to run

tell application "Adobe Premiere Pro CS6" to run

tell application "Google Drive" to run

tell application "Adobe Bridge CS6" to run

    Two slight problems:

    1. Adobe Bridge causes some sort of hiccup and has to be put last otherwise the others won't open. Applescript says:

"Adobe Bridge CS6 got an error: Can’t continue run." number -1708

    Bridge actually opens.

    2. How do I tell Applescript to quit from within itself? This didn't work:

tell application "AppleScript Editor" to quit

If you’re saving it as an application, it’ll automatically quit once the last command has been run.
