Q: Not booting with thunderbolt cable connected

see https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4163641

I, too, have encountered this issue of not being able to boot my MBP when the thunderbolt cable is connected.  If I connect my thunderbolt cable which is connected to 2 thunderbolt displays, of which one of them is connected to the corporate network, my MBP will not boot up.  I have to disconnect the thunderbolt cable, boot and log in to the MBP, and then connect the thunderbolt cable for it to work.

I have a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) running OS X El Capitan (10.11.6).  This problem seemed to start soon after enabling the FileVault or installing a security update a few months ago.
