Q: Screen Damage

I noticed that the apple site lists non-apple stores for repair ie Best Buy for screen repair. Is it better to take to a Apple Store. Does anyone know the cost to replace a 6s Plus screen ?

iPhone 6s Plus, iOS 9.3.5

Where are you seeing Best Buy for screen repair? The cost for screen replacement will depend on your location(country). You can try this link for your area and it should show the local pricing. iPhone Screen Damage - Official Apple Support  It also states these prices are for screen repairs done by Apple.

Yes, BestBuy is an Authorized service provider for iPhones - https://locate.apple.com

But, I would prefer to go to Apple.  Bestbuy's prices for service and repairs will be set by them, so you'd have to enquire what they are.  I've just never been overly impressed with BestBuy employee's technical prowess, but that's my bias.

Thank you for that. I never realized there were service providers for the iPhone in areas where there are Apple Stores. I also agree with you regarding Apple versus Best Buy for the service. I can't see driving the same distance to a Best Buy versus an Apple Store and choosing Best Buy. I would feel much more comfortable with Apple.

I think they are an authorized service provider now for anything Apple.  In the USA, they are a pretty big seller of Apple's entire product line, so I guess it made sense for them to get their people trained up on service too.  They seem to be getting more aggressive lately about product services and seem to want to become your one-stop shop for all consumer electronic repairs.

I think that might be the crux of the problem I have with them for service though - jack of all trades but a master of none syndrome.

Their recycle drop off is nice though, as they will literally take any electronics in for recycle (I saw a guy dropping off some filthy and ancient Zenith PC a few weeks ago).

Interesting. I did notice when checking using the link provided that not all Best Buy stores are authorized to service the iPhone. There is a BB less than 1/2 a mile from me as well as several more in close proximity. I would have to drive over 60 miles to find one that can replace the screen on an iPhone.

Given my experience with BB service in the past, I doubt I would ever consider using them.
