how do I get facebook contacts and birthdays off my calendar

I have tried everything. Deactivated facebook account didn't work. then went back and unfriended all 400+ friends. Still did not work. Contacts are in my phone and there is no option to delete the contact or the birthday. If I turn off birthday icon then ALL birthdays go away, even the ones I put in the phone.
