Hi, I just upgraded the memory in my MacBook Pro following the Apple instructions, and now the computer will not start.

Model 13" mid-2012

Memory used DDR3 1600 2 X 4 GB from 2 X 2 GB

Any and all suggestions will be appreciated.

Many thanks, Chris

1) Open it up and make certain the RAM is fully seated.

2) What RAM did you buy? It can make a huge difference. PNY, Corsair, and Kingston's "ValueRAM" are frequently found here as problematic in a modern Mac.

For over a decade I'm bought every stick on RAM that's gone into the numberous Macs in our family plus those I suuport for friends only from Other World Computing. Their RAM listings for your MBP are here:

I have their 8GB kit in my 2012 non-Retina 13-inch MacBook Pro and it works flawlessly.
