I am no longer able to select text in Pages i.e. highlight it, highlight will not satay. No longer able to highlight text to copy it nor to delete it. I am using El Capitan on iMac and Pages 5.6.2

Reboot your Mac into Safe Mode, and test Pages v5.6.2 there. Then reboot normally, and test it again.
Is this body text, or text in an object, that you cannot select?
