Q: Temperature
Hello, my Mac when just doing simple tasks the temp is normal, its very cool. when i edit in iMovie, normal but when i export, it gets hot, it'll burn your fingers if i leave my fingers on for like 10 seconds. how do i know if my Mac isn't overheating? my Mac doesn't turn itself off, but it gets very hot. is this normal?
MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

Exporting video uses all CPUs and GPU to their maximum so generates more heat than most other processes. Are your fans running fast? Is the airflow through the computer obstructed by dust? Are you using it on an insulating surface (cloth, carpet)? See also: Mac notebooks: Operating temperature - Apple Support
