iPhone 6S Plus posting blurry pictures to Instagram

Apparently I am the only person in the world having this problem but I hope someone can help.

I have an iPhone 6S Plus 64 GB. It's less than a year old. I bought it through AT&T and then transferred it to Verizon. Giving all the details in case it matters.

A few months ago my new uploads to Instagram started posting blurry/grainy. It does not happen all the time, maybe half of the time and I cannot find any rhyme or reason to it. It did start happening after I switched to Verizon but I don't know if that matters.

It happens on and off wi-fi; with and without filters; with and without zooming in/cropping; when using photos from the camera roll, front facing camera, and rear facing camera; and on all 6 of my accounts.

Recently I posted a picture from my phone that was texted to me by a friend and it was grainy. So I deleted it, logged in to Instagram on my friends phone and posted it from there. It was perfect. This is leading me to believe that this is a problem with my phone and not with Instagram.

Has anyone else heard of this? Suggestions? Instagram is not responding to my reports, should I go to Verizon or Apple if I can't fix this myself?

ETA: and yes I deleted the app and reinstalled it. I also deleted the app, reset my phone to factory, reinstalled my phone, and then reinstalled the app.

I've gone through every forum and have discovered one thing in common. Most of the devices which are facing this issue are on iOS 10.2.1 including mine. The previews are great after taking the picture but after uploading, the image becomes highly fuzzy.

I just updated my iPhone 6 to iOS 10.3.1 and uploaded a test shot. To my surprise, it is looking sharp and clear. I guess there was a problem with the previous version of iOS and I recommend that you update to the latest version.

I'm having the same problem. I have an iPhone 7 256 GB and I tried restarting, reinstalling and updating Instagram but they pics are still blurry. It doesn't allow me to post pictures at all and it doesn't even load, it just stays blurry. I managed to upload videos to my story on Instagram but pics are always blurry. I even tried using other accounts but nothing :(

I'm not using iCloud as my storage, and my iPhone storage is not even half full. Hoping someone will figure this out.

Sounds like many people have the same issue, including me, but I'm unclear if anyone found a resolution?

I tried all suggestions listed and am out of luck:

1. Verified I'm on the most up to date iOS 10.2.1

2. I tried turning off the "optimize" for more storage setting so that it would pull from my phone instead of the iCloud, but it won't let me switch it back given the volume

3. Marked as favorite and then tried, but still remained blurry on instagram unable to click NEXT to load

4. A different thread would similar issues suggested marking as favorite and then editing it - which would then save a local copy - and then it would upload (maybe that works for some others on this thread if you haven't tried it yet?), but when I go to edit it just sits and spins and never able to edit.

Looking forward to any other helpful hints out there.

This began occurin for me after I switched to the "optimize" setting and turning on the iCloud storage.

Hello,

Since Instagram owned by Facebook they keep the same method to save spaces on their servers. Each photos uploaded will be compressed making it blurry as a results. I personally have this problem too as I myself an Instagram enthusiasts I keep posting travelling photos. I tried each recommendation by bloggers and YouTubers where they had their photos still sharp even it's uploaded for a month which sometimes I felt thats not fair because they had many followers (I guess). But none works for me. I guess nothing to do with the phones. Its the Instagram itself. I keep reporting the problem to them but nothing came back to me. I hope this might help your problem. Keep me updated too if you guys find the solutions.

I've been having this issue when trying to post multiple pictures using Instagram's new 10 Picture Multiple Post feature.

Before upload, all of the pictures look great, but once I click upload, all of them become blurry... & it doesn't make sense.

Currently using an iPhone 6 with the latest 10.3.2 iOS on it and I have no way to fix it. has anyone else figured out a fix for this yet? I've already tried deleting the app, reinstalling... factory resetting my phone and updating... already tried that iCloud picture fix that was mentioned in a few threads above. But no luck.

Anyone find a fix for this?

Just encountered this issue. Preview was fine, image was blurry in my feed after upload. (Image was a photoshop painting I emailed to myself and uploaded via my phone.)

I updated iOS, which didn't help, but instead of deleting the photo and trying again, I quit Instagram and reopened. Voila! It was sharp in my feed.

tl;dr Closing and reopening Instagram fixed it for me.

@philippajoanne, when I use my iPad Air 2 Wi-Fi 128GB - Silver and my iPhone 6 64GB I don't get blurry images when posting individual pictures. However, my images become blurry when using the newly integrated multiple post feature on instagram.

I've found that a work around to get 100% quality of the image is to use the SquareReady App that I downloaded from the app store.

The app will perfectly crop your photo into a square into the highest quality possible and when it uploads, it won't be blurry (or at least it shouldn't become blurry from doing multiple tests). You can view my recent multiple IG posts on my account @BryanMiraflor just to see some examples.

Maybe this might be a short term fix for your iPhone 6S plus.

Hi there, lamariem. Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
It seems that you're experiencing issues with the photos you upload to Instagram from your iPhone 6s Plus on iOS 9.3.5. I'll be glad to help with this.
In researching this problem, it looks like there's recurring question that keeps being asked of people experiencing this issue. If you're using the iCloud Photo Library and have "Optimize iPhone Storage" turned on (Settings > iCloud > Photos > Optimize iPhone Storage), your iPhone is only holding thumbnails of your pictures to save space. In order to access the full resolution photo, mark it/them as favorite(s) and upload it again to Instagram.

Hope this helps.
