Q: Anti-Reflective Display Coating Wearing Off, What NOW?!!

I try to contact apple but nothing I get, it doesn't mean that my one year of warranty ended that I can't contact you anymore Apple! I paid 2700$ to buy this laptop and the issue I have is due to defect of your product. Actually it appear after purchase with 4 to 5 months but I didn't take it seriously as I thought it just need to be cleaned. But later I found out that it is Anti-Reflective Display Coating Wearing Off. My Keyboard keys and the Trackpad leave a lot of signs on my Retina screen and they bother me while I do my work? I really don't know what to do now Apple! Thanks!!

    We have no idea when you purchased this device (you didn't tell us that). If you have any warranty take it to Apple. If you have no warranty or Applecare left you can still take it to Apple & request they resolve or investigate it, they may help you or offer repairs/ replacements for a fee if you have no warranty left.

     

    We are just other users so we cannot speak for Apple or get your issue resolved. Either contact Apple support directly or take it to a genius bar appointment.

    I didn't know that purchase date will make difference as I mentioned that my warranty is ended already, but I purchased in March 16th 2015. I am currently located in Egypt but I bought it from USA, here there is not Apple branch in Egypt, just service provider who they don't accept to investigate, unless you will pay for replacement which as you may know costs a lot!! That's why I am desperate!

    I don't see how we can help you. You have no warranty & Apple have already told you that you need to pay for an out of warranty repair. You failed to tell Apple about the issue when it appeared within the warranty period - that is your fault & you should accept responsibility for that.

     

    As far as I can tell your options appear to be…

    1. Find a third party repair service to replace your screen (for a fee).
    2. Find parts yourself & risk damaging the Mac by replacing it yourself (not recommended).
    3. Attempt to force Apple to acknowledge it is a 'manufacturing defect' by requesting more help from Apple support. So far it does not sound like a manufacturing defect, it sounds like something that can happen with laptops that are carried around, the case flexes & the screen can become marked.
    4. Live with the display as it is.
    5. Some other legal action.

     

    You can obviously wait for other responses, perhaps someone has a better answer for you but I am out of ideas.
