Q: Earpod Microphone Static

Recently, I've been experiencing some problems with my Earpods. When they're plugged in, if I try to record a video, or call someone, or use Siri the microphone only seems to pick up static and it makes it impossible to be able to use the microphone on the Earpods. I'm not entirely sure whether it could be a break in the wires or if something else may have caused this problem, but any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
