Q: wifi no hardware installed.

I have the problem again wifi no hardware installed. I had this problem before on and off. I installed new wifi card, ribbon cable and that was not the problem. The problem was software, I would do the SMC reset, Pram reset, NVRam reset and that would fix it for a while. I have EL Captain and have ran it for a while without having this problem, but it's back, wifi no hardware installed. I removed some of the files in the network preference list and rebooted to create new files but now I don't have wifi listed in the network section as an option of system preferences, on ethernet, thunderbolt, and bluetooth. I have a wifi dongle I would use to get by when I had this problem that worked under Yosemite but does not work under El Captain but it works in bootcamp with windows 10.

My question, is there any suggestions any one has other than SMC, Pram, NVRam resets or remove network preference files (i've already done several times) to get El Captain OS to recognize my wifi card?

In that event the problem is almost certain to be a hardware fault, and you already tried a new Wi-Fi module.

Usually, the problem causing that fault is a broken connection such as a microscopic solder joint that can be difficult or impossible to find visually.

Thanks John for your reply, if that is the problem, microscopic solder joint would definitely be difficult to find and probably more money than I want to spend to have it fixed.  The wifi card has bluetooth built in the same card and I've never had problems with it. It seems to me if the problem were hardware I would have problems with my bluetooth since it is on the same card with my wifi.  I guess I will get another dongle to use that is compatible with EL Captain and use it till I can find out the problem.

    Thanks again.

A suitable USB module would be a good workaround. Make sure the one you get is compatible with El Cap.
