Q: Imac shows blank CD-R after photo file on it

This is weird but on my husband's imac (2010) he can burn his photos on a CD-R and title them.  When it is put back in to the imac to make sure all the photos are there, the CD-R shows as untitled with nothing in it.  He then puts it into my external Disc player attached to my macbook air and it shows the title and all the photos.   I went into disc utility and preferences under CD/DVD and cannot see what the problem might be.  Any ideas?  This has been happening for over a year and he just uses my macbook air but the underlying problem is bugging me.  The function should work.  Any ideas?  We have a great group called The Mac Guys and they can fix anything but I would like to fix it myself.

Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions, test if things work OK in Safe Mode.

Then move these files to the Desktop for now...

    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist

    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist

    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist

    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.recentitems.plist

    Reboot & test.

PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.
