Q: My Airport Express will randomly start blinking amber and I have to unplug it to make it go back to green.  The wifi still operates even when the light is blinking amber.  Anybody know why this is happening?

My Airport Express will randomly start blinking amber and I have to unplug it to make it go back to green. The wifi still operates even when the light is blinking amber. Anybody know why this is happening?

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

    The next time that you see the amber light blinking......

     

    Open Finder > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility

    Click on the picture of the AirPort Express

    If you see an Update button, click on it to update the firmware on the AirPort

    Otherwise, look for Status, and click on the small amber dot there. A message will appear to tell you why the AirPort is complaining and suggest a remedy for the issue.
