Footage in media library not working

I seem to have an issue with a file. I've gotten this problem a lot since I do movie reviews, so this is not the first time this has happened. But I don't know how to fix it. What happens is I'll drag a file in and part of the movie will play until it just stops at one image. In some cases I've gotten where the audio still works but the footage seems to be broken, in others I tried to play the footage and it will crash the program.

What I have done already:

a) Tried to reboot my computer, see if its a computer problem, it isn't my computer

b) Checked that both operating system and FCPX is up to date. I just updated last week, got nowhere with this problem.

c) Used movie converters to see if that will fix the footage. I've used Macripper Pro and File Converter. Nothing.

Could it be becuase the file is a blueray rip, its not functioning since I know bluerays and macs don't get along? To see exactly what I mean I have posted a screenshot below. (The image was too large and I wasn't sure how to resize it)
