Q: How to make DiskImageMounter run after changing SystemVersion.plist

Hi all,

I've run into a curious problem.

I installed Pro Tools 10 on my iMac (early 09, 10.10.3) after changing the system version in the relevant .plist (PT 10 won't install on Yosemite systems otherwise. I'm aware of all implications and PT 10 not being supported for Yosemite, etc., etc., no lectures please). It worked just fine. Computer thought its system was older than it really was, image was mounted and PT installed, system version changed back to proper value, sorted.

I consequently set off to do the same on the missus' MBP (mid 10, 10.10.5), but the DiskImageMounter refused to start complaining about OSX being the wrong version. On my iMac, all Apps marked as incompatible would run regardless, including the Imagemounter (I also had to enable root on the MBP to actually change SystemVersion.plist, which I didn't have to do on my iMac, but that's a different story, I suppose). Why won't DiskImageMounter run (or TextEdit, for that matter, or, rather annoyingly, Terminal, or any other seemingly incompatible app)? Is it because of the slight difference in (real) OSX version, 10.10.5. on the MBP vs. 10.10.3 on the iMac?

Any suggestions?

Cheers,

Matt
