Sounds like you accidentally entered Full Screen Mode.
Move the pointer all the way yo the top edge of the screen. When the iTunes menu bar appears, click on the green dot.
Did you try to press esc? Or, View > Exit Full Screen?
If iTunes is running full screen, move your mouse to the top of the screen and the iTunes menu will drop down.
Click the green button on the left under the iTunes menu.
If it's something else, post back.
Press Command (⌘) + Tab. Keeping your finger on (⌘) and keep pressing Tab until you reach iTunes, be sure iTunes up. Then try hitting the ESC button on your keyboard 😝 which is 1st key on the top row, left of your keyboard!
Alternatively, click on the at the top, left of your screen. Scroll down to 'Force Quit'... Selecting only iTunes from the little window that comes up. This should completely close iTunes to hopefully have you reopen it and it responding in a more functioning manner than before?
