Q: Macbook Remembers Wrong Resolution For External Memory
Hi all,
I have a super annoying problem here. I've had this happen twice and I have no idea how to resolve it, nor does Apple Customer Care.
I have a new external monitor I'd like to use while my macbook is closed. It was working fine before but then in trying to find the right resolution for the external monitor you eventually stumble on one that is incompatible. And what happens then is that the external monitor blanks out and tells you which resolution it prefers, or in some cases is says "Frequency Out Of Range." Here's the problem: there's no way to change that resolution now and the mac only remembers the last setting for that monitor. The external monitor is stuck on that message and the macbook is closed. When you open the mac, the ext-monitor comes on, but under a completely different 'environment' where any resolution or setting you apply does not remain when you close the mac again, the ext-monitor will just blank out again.
My question, how do I get the mac to FORGET the setting for the ext-monitor so I can plug it in as brand new, and have it work in close-lid mode again?
Hope you can help!
