With only 9 GB of free space on your system disk drive that is insufficient for the operating system to function properly. You ate going to have to either move or delete enough files to release at least another 10 or 12 GB of storage before your Mac will function correctly.

Do Mac's get virus? Not at this time, by the definition of what a virus is and what malware and adware is. Macs can and have been infected with Malware and Adware, the number of infections is a fraction of what is out there for Windows, and the infections are generally found on sites that promote free software downloads by either bundling the garbage with legitimate software (Cnet, SoftPedia, Download.com) or sites tying to circumvent copyright (torrent sites and share sites) avoiding these sites can prevent infection from Malware and Adware
Could Mac's get virus? Absolutely, but at this time none have been reported in the wild
How do I clean adware/malware?
Malwarebytes for mac is often recommend for Mac users, it is free and developed by a contributor to these forums. It will remove Mac Malware and Adware that is on your computer, that it is aware of, but it will not prevent infection and it is only as good as it can be knowing what infections are out there. It does not work like anti-virus and appears to be inherently far more stable then the state of Mac Anti-Virus (see next question)

Should you run a Mac Anti-Virus program? The findings on this site point to NO, they are impractical and not in any way as flexible, developed or stable as Windows Anti Virus suites.
Mac AV's appear to be very problematic on OS X and they have never been faced with an actual threat so their legitimacy as protecting you is in question. The instability they can cause has been well documented, you can search for it on these forums.
How do I protect my mac? The best defense at this time is safe browsing habits and more importantly keep your Mac up-to-date with securities patches and software updates from Apple Computer.
