Q: Notes not synching to correct folders

Recently upgraded my Mac to OSX El Capitan, and upgraded the Notes app to the new iCloud version.  One of the key features in the new Notes app I was interested in is the ability to create subfolders under folders to better organize topics with a large number of note files.  I created a number of subfolders under existing folders in my Notes app, then moved hundreds of note files to the new subfolders.

On my iPad, it then did (eventually) recognize the new folder structure and added all the new subfolders.  And it moved SOME of the note files into the correct subfolders to match what I have on the Mac.  But, a lot of the files were NOT moved.  I've tried various things to 'trigger' things from the Mac to synch with the iPad via iCloud, but no luck so far.  (e.g. can edit a note on the Mac, in the correct subfolder; the edited note then shows up on the iPad moments later, but, still in the original top level folder, not in the subfolder.)

Has anyone else experienced anything like this?  Any suggestions to correct the problem?

Thanks.
