Q: MacBook Pro boot chime but no display
Went to boot my MacBook Pro up today, and I hear the chime but absolutely no change on the screen.
I do some testing, I find I can actually hear keyboard sounds after letting it boot up, so I blindly log in and I find I can press the play key and have spotify start playing whatever music I had left in the background.
Onto trouble shooting:
- SMC reset - no fix
- NVRAM reset - no fix
- leave powered off for 15 minutes disconnected from all peripherals - no fix
- I boot it up, wait for it to finish booting and keyboard lights to come on
- shut the lid
- wait 5 minutes
- open lid - voila! the display is working.
So shutting the lid and letting it sleep for awhile and then opening seems to bring back the display - however when rebooting I get the same problems.
This error is also preventing me from booting into my Window's 10 partition (which I would like to use for work and university). (I have had bootcamp for years now with no problem, and Windows 10 without issue since the release).
Is there a fix for this? I would like to access my windows partition and boot without having to shut the lid.
I fear changing the boot settings to Windows, in case that presents the same issue and I can't change the boot drive back to OS X and be locked out completely.
