Q: Search iPod in iTunes 12?

Hello, I need to know why ITunes 12 will NOT search what's on the iPod?

The ipod is connected and ITunes sees it, but when I go to search I can only search within my library or Itunes store, but not what is inside my ipod????

I don't want to copy my whole Ipod into my mac libraryapple.jpg!

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), itunes 12.4.3.1

Probably not designed to search an iPod or other connected device.

And your iTunes library should be complete.  iPods can easily get lost, or break, or have data corruption requiring a Restore.  You're taking a risk by not having songs on the iPod backed up.  If everything is in your iTunes library, and you lose or break your iPod, you can get another iPod (or other device) and take just a few minutes to set up syncing again.

And after your iTunes library is complete, you should back up your computer's iTunes library data (along with the rest of your user data), to protect against failure of the computer or its drive.  A Mac has a built-in feature called Time Machine that does this for you automatically (once it's set up).
