Hi,

I have here a very very old iPod nano (3rd generation) and Windows 10 does recognise it.

After upgraded to Windows 10 and the Anniversary update I connect the iPod (with the original Apple USB cable) to the computer.

(just curious) I did check via Control Panel Administrative Tools Computer Management The Computer Management screen click Device Manager.

Then start iTunes and click on the iDevce icon.

By the way is iTunes on your computer up-2-date ?

Hope this help you.
