Apple music no updating on Iphone

I have apple music (i like the music, i find the implementation to be frustrating at basically every turn).

I add music to my library through itunes and it appears on my itunes, perfect. I've been adding a lot of music!

Should this music not then show up on my iphone? This has not happened and I really do not want to have to add all this music again! (I tried putting it in a playlist and this does not show up either),

The only music on my iphone is other apple music songs that i downloaded through the phone.

apple music library is enabled.

Please help if you can 🙂
