Q: Are older versions of OSX (10.6.8, 10.7.x) vulnerable to the Trident/Pegasus issue? If so, are there security patches for this?

Concerning the recent Trident/Pegasus zero-day exploits, Apple has released patches for OSX 10.10 and 10.11. Are older versions of Safari vulnerable on OSX 10.6.8 and 10.7.x? If so, does Apple have security patches for these legacy systems?

I do not know the specific answer to your question. However, there are known, unpatched security flaws in Safari for at least 10.5 and earlier. Since Apple has not patched those I would not expect any future patches. Some sites will not even work with those old versions of Safari.

In April of this year Google stopped updating Chrome for 10.8 and earlier and this August Mozilla did the same for FireFox.

For you specific question I would post:

If these are recently discovered issues then Apple no longer issue security fixes for versions of OS X older than Yosemite. Not all newly discovered issues apply to older versions although many do.

If you want a version of OS X that is still maintained then you need to upgrade to at least Yosemite.
