Q: I restored my iPhone 5s and now when I connect it my iTunes it still says welcome tp your new phone

I have already restored my phone and do not wish to do so again, I want to be able to back up my phone in case this happens again.  The phone is fine and working, whenever I plug it into iTunes it acts as if it is a brand new phone although I went through the process it is asking me about just last night

iPhone 5s, iOS 9.3.5

Just to be clear, what version of iTunes and Windows are you using?

If iTunes doesn't recognise the phone as one that has already been connected to it then ask to either set up as new device, which means that iTunes will recognize it in future, or restore from backup. If it is working as you want it then choose the set up as new device option. Nothing on the phone will be changed and you will then be able to backup the current state of the device.

I have restored the phone, last night and now this morning, and even after I do that when I connect my phone to my iTunes account when I click on the phone icon the screen pops up saying welcome to your new iPhone and gives me the option to start it as a new phone or restore from a backup which is what I have done. I want to now connect it back it up and download items to my phone but it is not letting me because it only gives me the option to recover it

Choose the option set up as new iPhone.
