    Hi,

Technically Buddies cannot be contacted on the  iMessages Account.

In reality I realise that sounds a little pedantic but it is due to the history of how the iChat App became Messages and how the iMessages account uses the Contacts App instead of a Buddy List  and therefore connections are with Contacts.

iChat had Buddy Lists which had Buddies listed in them.

Messages can still display the Buddies Lists either as a joined up list (if you have AIM, Jabber, Google and Yahoo Buddies) or as separate ones.

If Every Contact tired in the iMessages Account show the Contact as Red and the error messages "Not Registered with iMessages" then the iMessages account is probably not logged in properly.

(It seems Messages only has this one error message for the iMessages Account).

Recently a poster caller polarbreeze1 posted what seems to be a "Fix" from Apple on this.

Use the Apple Icon Menu and then hold the ALT key down.

The first item will change to System Info and you should select that.

    Go to Network > Locations

You should see something like this:-

    en0.png

ploarbreeze1 says that Apple have deduced that people suffering from this have the en0 numbering for the Ethernet Connection missing.

The pic shows Ethernet being en0 with WiFi at en1 (Thunderbolt is en2 on my device) and Blue Tooth shows as en3

Does this appear to be the case for you ?

If this is the case go to Hard drive Name/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration

    SystemConfiguration.png

Note the Path Bar this is NOT the USERS Folder.

Inside this Folder delete com.apple.airport.preferences.plist and restart the computer.

Check the en0 numbering  and then if sorted try Messages.
