Q: Security agent has gibberish text

Certain dialogue boxes have had their text changed to ascii nonsense, notably the OS's password dialogue box. I have no idea what caused it. How do I fix this? Does this imply something malicious is on my mac?
I'm on OS X 10.10.5 (14F1912), Safari 9.1.3 (10601.7.8).
