Q: Does Gen 1 Apple TV work with iTunes 12.3.2.35?

I has some problems last year connecting a Gen 1 Apple TV with iTunes but eventually did connect after several hours. I would like to share a folder of pictures with the Apple TV via iTunes so I can use them for the Apple TV's screen saver. The Apple TV is on the same wireless network as the iMac I have the pics on.

Now iTunes will sit for days "Syncing" with the Apple TV. Is the Gen 1 Apple TV still supported by iTunes, or did my iTunes upgrade past the point of it being compatible?

MacBook, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

The current version of iTunes should be backwards compatible with all iPods, iPhones, iPads, and Apple TVs released to date. Is your network set up via DHCP? Manually assigning IP addresses seems to cause problems.

    It is setup DHCP.

We have over 200 devices that work fine on the wireless network, but as usual the Apple TV is being stubborn. I work tech support for a middle school and the Apple TV is in the front lobby being used to to show student pics in the TV's screen saver.

Well if it is syncing for days clearly one side or the other has gone to sleep. I don't have any practical experience with Apple TV 1 myself but perhaps someone else will drop by with some ideas.
